Patxi's pizza, Kid Friendly Except the Deep Dish

Patxi's pizza, Kid Friendly Except the Deep Dish

Neighborhood: Marina
Parking: street
Kid Friendly: Yes (unless you order deep dish pizza)

Patxi’s is a pizza restaurant on Chestnut Street in the Marina. We went there for an early dinner assuming it was kid friendly.

It all seemed fine when we walked in. They have high chairs, plenty of seating, crayons and a kid’s cheese pizza. However, if you have a young toddler like me, I don’t recommend ordering the deep dish style pizza. Here’s what happened when we did.

My husband and our friend had their heart set on building their own deep dish, so we choose our toppings and placed the order.

Once our server took our menus she politely let us know that the deep dish would be out in approximately 45-50 minutes. I nodded but my eyes widened and I turned to my husband with a look of horror on my face.

I was already wrestling with Atlas to keep him sitting down and he had chewed through 2 crayons and tossed the rest.

I knew this was going to be a long 45 minutes. I pulled out every trick I had to keep Atlas entertained. I even had my husband take him to the playground around the corner to tire him out. They came back after only 15 minutes with what seemed like more energy! Atlas colored, jumped, played with straws, played with my phone, ran outside, ran upstairs repeatedly, spilled his drink all over the table and the pizza still hadn't arrived.

Our Pizza arrived after about an hour and by that time I was getting Atlas in his stroller so we could leave. Everyone scarfed down their food and we left.

The moral of this story is, you can go to Patxi's with your toddler but under no circumstance should you order a deep dish pizza!
