Impromptu Picnic at Crissy Field

Impromptu Picnic at Crissy Field

We have had an unusually warm week around here so we have been out enjoying the sunshine. One of my favorite places to go when it's warm is Crissy Field.

There is so much to do there for kids and adults.  There are plenty of grassy areas for picnics and BBQs, there are trails to walk or bike on and there is also access to the beach. No matter what activity you choose you get an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

I recently heard there was a swim school there called La Petite Baleen, which is where we ended up. Atlas loves swimming but the ocean here is way to cold. So we booked a trial class at the swim school.

After his class we walked around and found these awesome picnic tables so we had an impromptu picnic. As you can tell I don't have a bunch of picnic gear we just grabbed our snacks and sat on a picnic table to enjoy the view. It was perfect. It was sunny and about 70F with a breeze. (note: the Presidio neighborhood is known for being windy so plan for that)

We ate our snacks and then I let Atlas explore the area. He loved looking at the Golden Gate and only wanted to run towards it.

We were there for about an hour and then it was nap time so we headed home.

If you plan ahead you can have a wonderful day adventure at Crissy Field. Getting there is easy and there are plenty of parking lots and meters. I would recommend going early if it's a warm day because the parking lot could fill up.

But if you are in the area and it's a sunny day why not stop here and enjoy your snacks with a view? For directions and more information you can check out the Presidio website

I will be writing a separate post with recommendations for a planned afternoon here.

Stay tuned!
