Our First Time Back in West Portal

Our First Time Back in West Portal

Last time we lived in San Francisco we lived in the West Portal neighborhood. Last weekend we decided to go check it out to see if our old favorite restaurants were still there.

We took Atlas and let him explore the area. It was a sunny quiet morning. We walked around the neighborhood reminiscing on the days we used to walk those streets. There were other families there and lots of people buying coffee.

If you aren’t familiar with West Portal, it is mostly a residential neighborhood close to St. Francis Wood and Forest Hill. There is a little shopping area about 4 blocks long where you will find restaurants, cafes and local boutiques. It is usually quiet and full of families and you can find parking on the main street or the surrounding residential streets.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from although, some of them are tiny and don’t look very kid friendly. There are a lot of new places too including Lemonade, Toast Eatery and Noe Valley Bakery. We didn’t try any of the new places but we will come back to check them all out individually.

While we were there we grabbed a quick breakfast at Squat and Gobble. It is definitely a kid friendly restaurant. They have high chairs, kid’s menus, plenty of seating and changing tables in the restroom. They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Next time we go I plan on checking out a few different restaurants as well as the indoor playground that recently opened there. I will let you guys know what restaurants are kid friendly and if the playground is a good idea.
