The Creativity Museum – A Great Place for Toddlers

The Children’s Creativity Museum is located in the Yerba Buena Gardens right next to the Moscone Convention Center. I stumbled upon it as I was looking for museums in the area that would be good for kids.

It has now become one of our favorite places to take Atlas. It is clean, safe and fun. The admission is $12.95 for adults and kids under 2 enter free. For an extra $3 you can also ride the carousel that is right outside.

The best area for toddlers is the Imagination Lab. Here you will find various exhibits that are entry level and safe for toddlers.

They have a reading area, coloring stations, outdoor space with tunnels to crawl under and climb over, building blocks, a magnet wall, puppet theatre and a new interactive sand exhibit. There are plenty of activities to keep them busy.

Atlas’s favorite is the foam block building area. He spends most of his time building or destroying foam structures.  He also loves the magnets and PlayFoam (although he mainly tries to eat the PlayFoam).

One thing I really like is the admission is good for the entire day. So if you want to take a lunch or nap break, you can come back and not have to pay again. Also, it’s a big open indoor space so I don’t feel like I have to hover over him to keep him safe. I can sit at one of the parent benches and give him space to learn, play and make friends.
